We have released a new feature in RetailOps Version 1.6.36, duplicate SKU detection. This feature is useful for managing data in your catalog. SKUs that are identified as duplicates are automatically turned to Status: Duplicate. Users will be prevented from receiving items against these SKUs in the Product Receiving tool. These SKUs will also be prevented from turning to Status: Complete.
How do I enable duplicate SKU detection?
To enable duplicate SKU detection, you must specify to RetailOps Support which product attributes you’d like RetailOps to check for duplication. Once these have been configured on the back-end, RetailOps will check these product attributes on all SKUs in your catalog. RetailOps will flag any SKUs whose data for these attributes exactly matches another SKU in your catalog.
How am I notified of duplicate SKUs?
Once duplicate SKUs are identified, RetailOps will throw a System Alert, Identified Duplicate. This alert specifies the duplicate SKU as well as the originating SKU being duplicated. Duplicate SKUs are highlighted in pink in the PIM.
How do I remove duplicate SKUs?
You may inactivate duplicate SKUs in the PIM by selecting them and pressing the light bulb icon. Inactive SKUs will be hidden from the PIM by default. Note that you may only inactivate SKUs that do not have quantity stored. If you encounter a duplicate SKU with quantity, you must move those units to the originating SKU before inactivating the SKU. This can be done using the Advanced Product Editor.
Read this help article here for more details on using the Advanced Product Editor.
How do I view inactive SKUs?
You may view inactive SKUs in the PIM by pressing light bulb+ icon in the bottom-right corner.
Can I enable duplicate SKU detection but exempt specific products from detection?
By default, when you specify attributes for duplicate SKU detection, all attribute values are checked for duplication. However, you can exempt certain values from detection by creating a meta field. This is useful when selling pre-owned products. You may want to allow duplicate SKUs for items in Used condition because each item may differ in its amount of wear.
To enable this, you must create a meta field for the attribute and notify the RetailOps Support Team so it can be configured on the back-end. In the example below, the meta field, CheckDuplicate, was created. RetailOps will check items in New or New - no tag condition for duplication; items in any other condition will not be checked.
