Reference Number
We have added a new functionality to RetailOps allowing users to specify a new serialized type of data to the inventory receiving workflow called the Reference Number. Serial Numbers are still great for tracking a specific id to a product or lot, however they have a one to one relationship with the lot number. The Reference Number can have multiple products which have the same Reference Number indiscriminately from the lot.
Configuration
The Reference Number can be configured by creating a new product level attribute with a 'Yes' or 'No' selection and mapping that to the account setting titled "Attribute Indicating Lots Require Reference Number".
Once the attribute has been linked to the account setting. The attribute can be set on any product which may require a reference number. Upon receiving the item, if the product attribute is 'Yes' the receiving screen will prompt the user to scan the reference number, or enter it manually.
Viewing the Reference Number
Once a product has been received with the reference number there are a few sections where it is shown. For instance, on the product page, under the 'inventory lots' section, you will be able to see the reference number attached to that product.
Additionally the reference number can be pulled as a data source in the reporting tool. The easiest way to do so is to use the Primary Query for 'Lots Received' where the Reference Number can be found under the fields section. This is a great way to mass pull data to find which reference number is tied to which lot or SKU.
