The Inventory Search Tool is a quick way to view available inventory and data based on Lot ID though a few criteria such as, which lots a given SKU was received on, the quantity of an available item based on it's location in the warehouse and the container it is stored in, and Lot history for; inventory moves, additions and subtractions.
To find the Inventory Search Tool, navigate to the tools sidebar > warehouse > Inventory Search (GIS).
The tool starts at the top with a way to search for your inventory. The options available for a query on inventory are:
- Lot
- MPN
- Container
- SKU
- PO
- Facility
(note that you can also enable the "show zero qty" checkbox which will give information on unavailable inventory)
Using the Tool
Now that we have searched for inventory, a list of results pop up providing information on things like Lot IDs, Quantity in a given container, Product SKU, Product MPN and, Product Name.
Selecting a row will bring up a new action bar in which users can affect inventory. From here you will be able to do one of three Actions.
You can Move Inventory from one container location to another by selecting the container that the inventory is currently in, inputting the quantity to be moved, and the container name for the new container it will be moved to. Then hit the Move button
Additionally you can Gain or Lose Inventory by selecting the respective buttons. The buttons will drop down a Reason Code as to why the increment or decrement is happening. For example, in the Loss dropdown available reason codes are listed as Shrink/Theft, Damage, or Damaged in Shipping.
For more information on reason codes, check out our Article here.
Lot History
Lastly, the Lot History section of the tool gives a quick review of the history on inventory from that Lot ID. This section will pull up information based on the Lot selected from the inventory row. It will then show the history of the Lot based on these values; the Actions that were taken, the inventory quantity to which that action was done, the date in which it occurred, and the user information.
