Automatically Generate Shipping Label for Drop Ship POs

Request: We have some vendors that support drop shipping, but do not support an API/EDI interface, so orders are processed manually. Having the option to include a PDF of a pre-generated shipping label with the purchase order would help minimize data entry errors, would ensure that freight is billed to our shipping account, and in same cases can save a processing fee.

There are some issues to content with, like how many cartons will be included in the shipment, which may not be known when the purchase order is transmitted, but overcoming those obstacles and making this a vendor selectable option would be a welcomed addition for us.

  I can see the value in pre-created and delivered ship labels for dropship orders. The main challenge that comes to my mind is determination of final packaged dimension and weight which is needed to generate an accurate label. With access to only product information, short of a vendor portal (think ship audit tool for vendors), I don't see an accurate and scalable solution. Thoughts?

  Great point Sam. In our case, all of our products are prepackaged and weights/dimensions are fixed. We never had issue creating labels on our end to provide to drop-shippers. However, I can see it becoming a problem for seller who deal with multi-sku orders.
